Louisiana Travel & Tourist Attractions
Louisiana is full of attractions for travelers of all types from party lovers to history buffs. New Orleans, especially at Mardi Gras, is not to be missed. Visit the French Quarter, listen to jazz and take a boat ride on the Mississippi. South of Lafayette is Bayou Country, swamp tours are available and the opportunities for fishing are excellent. The city of Baton Rouge is the state capital, with magnolias and antibellum mansions in abundance. Central Louisiana is full of American Civil War historical sights. Louisiana Arts and Science Museum - The Louisiana Arts and Science Museum offers educational entertainment for visitors of all ages. Louisiana Political Museum and Hall of Fame - The museum is housed in the old Winnfield railroad depot that was donated to the city by the L&A Railroad and was moved onto its present location on Main Street. The museum has accumulated over 30,000 artifacts and memorabilia relating to politicians and politics in Louisiana.

It was the 21-room manor home of the Minor family, who helped to start the sugar industry.

Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park - Located 3 miles west of Blanchard, the 160-acre nature park contains a pine-oak-history forest accessible by 5 miles of nature trails. The park has an interpretive building, a pavilion with restrooms, a handicapped-accessible trail and three full-time naturalist who provide information and interpretation to park visitors.
